Description

A samovar is a traditional Kashmiri kettle used to brew, boil and serve tea and kahwa. Kashmiri samovars are made of copperware with engraved or embossed calligraphic motifs. The process of making of a copper goes through many artisans who are specialized in a particular technique. The process involves Khar ? the smith, Naqash ? the engraver, Zarcod ? the gilder, Roshangar ? the polisher and Charakgar ? the cleaner or finisher. In fact, specific localities or Mohallas like Roshangar-Mohalla are named after these professions, where these artisans still carry out their craft practice.  Our Copper samavar has motifs of chinar leaves all around body and tomb. Chinar represents kashmiris most famous tree Platanus orientalis, the Old World sycamore or Oriental plane, is a large, deciduous tree of the Platanaceae family, growing to 30 m or more, and known for its longevity and spreading crown. The design inspiration has been choosen so wisely from these trees leaves .The samavar has a capacity of holding approx  upto 60 kehwa cups .a copper pipe with alloy buff running vertically through the middle. The pipe is filled with solid fuel(coal) which is ignited to heat the water in the surrounding container. Our chinar motiff samavar has alloy buff all around from inside and from outside it has a copper finish and on customers demand a buff can be done from outside also. our samavar has a specialized bottom  jali design (Net) that operates like air vents to help burning of coal inside .Further more it can be kept as a decor in drawing rooms, guest room or office’s etc
